Broward County, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman was taken to hospital Tuesday afternoon after a beach fan said she was out of the water and said “a lot” came out.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue told NBC 6 South Florida that a woman may have been bitten by a barracuda while swimming from the coast of the small seaside town of Lauderdale Bysea.

Several beach fans recall hearing the woman screaming and asking for help, seeing deep wounds on one of her arms.

Jaden Van said he was swimming near a woman in the deep-boobed water near the pier when she was in panic.

“She was screaming for help. I was the first person to pull her out of the water,” he told NBC 6. “Scar, that was a lump from her forearm.”

Other beach fans came to help after Vann took the woman to the shore.

One witness said the woman was “bleed quite badly” and that she heard someone scream for a towel. She noticed that the woman’s left arm looked very swollen.

Bystanders used the towel as a makeshift tourniquet until the first responder arrived.

NBC 6 was told the woman suffered from a nasty bite, but it is expected to be fine. She remained aware throughout the trial and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The female identity has not been revealed.
