FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested Sunday after driving to a crowd of people, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
The lawmakers responded to an incident in the 2000 block of Fort Myers’ Maravila Circle.
The investigation revealed that suspect Eduardo Rand Matamoro, 55, drove the car into a group of people in the driveway in a residential driveway following an oral argument.
Two people were hit by a car and injured.
Witnesses told law enforcement they shot Rand Matamoro and slammed him into the shoulder. Before the suspect escaped, two witnesses grabbed him and hugged him on the ground until authorities arrived.
Body camera video shows deputies arrive at the scene, find a witness, wear a teal shirt, put their arms around Landmatamoro, pushing him against his body, and becoming unable to move.
The lawmakers said they arrested Rand Matamoro and took him to a nearby hospital with the two victims.
All three suffered life-threatening injuries.
“I am extremely proud of the brave witness who stopped and stopped the suspect. Their quick actions made a real difference,” Sheriff Carmine Marseno said.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has charged Rand Matamoro with multiple worse batteries with deadly weapons.
