st. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – The candidate will spend three years in federal prison in the 2022 election for Florida’s 13th Congressional District after threatening to kill a major enemy.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was sentenced Wednesday after William Robert Braddock, 41, of St. Petersburg, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to an interstate infection that threatens to injure others.

Investigators said Braddock saw his opponent, a party from an unknown Republican party – the only obstacle to winning the 2022 race.

He called her peers at one point in June 2021 and threatened the woman by patronizing and saying that if she kept voting he would be killed.

Court records revealed some of the calls where Braddock threatened to “call my Russian-Ukrainian hit team” and threatened to “disappear” his main opponent.

“I will be the next councillor in this district. Period. The end of the discussion,” Braddock further said. “And anyone who opposes me is f— [expletive] I don’t know about doing that. [The victim]I’m ignorant, so I have no problem taking her out, but obviously I’m not going to do that dirty job. ”

NBC News previously reported that the race’s final winner, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, filed court documents in 2021 claiming Braddock was stalking her and wanted her to die.

A Florida court ultimately granted Luna a temporary restraining order against Braddock.

After finishing the campaign that same year, Braddock fled the country by taking a one-way flight to Thailand. He later settled in the Philippines and remained there until June 2023 when he self-meshed with the Manila authorities.

According to the DOJ, he was brought back to the US in 2024 to face his accusations.

The investigation was led by the FBI Tampa Division and the St. Petersburg Police and received significant support from former US S-Service and foreign law enforcement agencies.
