Rapper Rodwave faces more than a dozen fees in Georgia, including guns

ATLANTA (AP) — The rapper known as Rod Wave faces more than a dozen charges, including a gun, after pointing himself at a Georgia sheriff’s official on Tuesday.

Rodarius Green’s real name, Wave, voluntarily surrendered to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant arising from an April 21 police call outside Milton’s Atlanta suburb, police said.

A police report obtained by the Associated Press explains that officers found a luxury car with a bullet hole and found signs of a break-in at home in one of Georgia’s most exclusive communities last month. However, it doesn’t explain why authorities are now accusing the rapper of some crimes.

“There’s no truth to these accusations,” the rapper’s lawyer drew Findling, and Marissa Goldberg said in a statement to the Associated Press.

“Rod Green was a victim of a robbery and did not commit any crimes,” they said. “I don’t understand how he was charged as a result of this situation. This will definitely be resolved in a favorable way for Mr. Green.”

On April 21, Milton police responded to a town home in northern Atlanta after describing the 911 report as “a possible domestic obstruction,” police said in a statement. The neighbor heard the screams and screams and saw the woman crying, the officer wrote in his first report.

Officers determined the call was related to a previously unreported robbery and firearm discharge at the location, police said. They later obtained an arrest warrant for Green, who lived there.

The charges include aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a felony, criminal damage to property and pointing or targeting a gun at someone, Fulton County Jail records show. He is also accused of tampering with evidence (felony) and obstruction by the law officer.

The first police report obtained by the Associated Press describes what officers found at their home when they arrived on April 21. The Gold Mercedes SUV had multiple bullet holes, while the black Rolls-Royce car had a single bullet hole.

“In the basement, a large safe was found that was dragged across the floor and opened and empty,” the officer wrote.

Green’s girlfriend says she’s back at home and discovers that the house appears to have been robbed. Behind the house near the pool, officers spotted a hammer in the broken window and a bush next to it. A black Glock handgun was also found on the scene, the official wrote.

The initial report does not list any suspects who may have broken in, emptying a safe or shooting a vehicle, and does not accuse Green of committing a crime.

Authorities say Green was released on bond shortly after turning himself on the same day on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Florida rapper was celebrated for his soul trap sound, a unique fusion of R&B and rap, and won 11 singles certified platinum by the American Recording Industry Association. Four of his six albums reached number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, including his latest “Last Rap” in 2024.

This year he broke Ryan Cooler’s record-breaking title track rap “Thinner” for Sing Song, contributing to a hugely acclaimed smash hit of the same name.

Green grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He cut it down with at least one past law before domestic battery charging was rejected in 2022.

The ex-girlfriend accused Green of entering her home in the Orlando area and suffocating her while the two children were in different rooms, according to the arrest warrant. The two have been together for about four years, and their girlfriend told investigators he accused Green of meeting other men when they broke up.

Prosecutors later told court officials that the case was not suitable for prosecution.
