TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Gas prices have fallen as millions prepare to travel on anniversary weekends, according to AAA holiday travel forecast.
A record 2.6 million Floridians are expected to travel more than 50 miles, with 2.3 million taking on road trips.
“With so many drivers supply fuel, gas prices may fluctuate in the coming days,” said Marc Jenkins, a spokesman for the AAA-Auto Club Group. “But even at peak times, prices should be significantly lower than last year’s holiday rates.”
On Sunday, Florida’s average gas price was $3.05 per gallon, 46 cents less than the state average for the 2024 anniversary.
Florida gas prices rose 20 cents per gallon last week to $3.21 from $2.92. The state average fell 7 cents per gallon throughout the weekend, according to the AAA.
The most expensive gas prices in Florida are $3.22 for West Palm Beach Boca Raton and $3.13 for Ocala, which is Ocala.
The average gas price in Hillsboro County is $3.09, and in Pinellas County is $3.07.
