MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – The U.S. Coast Guard loaded an estimated $140 million worth of illegal drugs in the Port Everglades on Friday.

The suspect, whose officials were detained by the United States, was seized from six suspicious vessels that halted between April 12th and May 7th in the Atlantic and Caribbean.

Of the 255 people, a former Bucs player was arrested for “Searching Fools.”

In total, contraband amounted to around 19,055 pounds of cocaine and marijuana. Of that, 10,000 pounds were seized from one fishing boat that stopped 1,200 miles west of the Canary Islands.

Officials said the drug activity is linked to multiple cross-border criminal organizations, including Tren de Aragua, a gang with Venezuelan roots.

The Calhoun crew of the Coast Guard were involved in almost all stopping.

“I am extremely proud of Calhoun’s role in continuing to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs,” said Colonel Matthew Hammond, Calhoun commander. “The Coast Guard and our partners are tirelessly trying to dismantle overseas cross-border criminal activities that threaten Americans at home, denying drug trafficking organizations access US-bound smuggling routes.”
