Last month, the CDC panel said it was considering narrowing universal recommendations for Covid-19 vaccination.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning to suspend recommendations for daily COVID-19 vaccines for children, teens and pregnant women, senior agency officials confirmed by the Epoch Times.
Three Covid-19 vaccine shots in the US are permitted for Moderna and Pfizer/Biontech messenger RNA-based inoculations and Novavax protein-based vaccines.
According to CDC data, about 13% of children and 14% of pregnant women had adopted an updated Covid shot.
Kennedy has long advocated for vaccine safety. During Covid Pandemic, Kennedy is the opponent of the voices of Covid-19 vaccine mandate, and he frequently questions their efficacy and safety.
Kennedy petitioned the FDA to revoke emergency use permits for the Covid vaccine in 2021.
Like Kennedy, FDA Commissioner Marty McCurry has expressed concern about the effectiveness and safety of the Covid-19 shot. The FDA is scheduled to debut a new framework for vaccine approval next week, the Wall Street Journal reported.
“Apart from my role as a regulator in the FDA, I am not encouraging or advocating for young, healthy children to get covid shots unless there is new evidence that suggests there is a clear benefit,” McCurry said on May 15.
McCulley noted that vaccine companies may need to submit additional data to the FDA. Under Kennedy’s guidance, HHS said that placebo testing for all new vaccines will be required.
“We want to see a vaccine that is available to high-risk people,” McCurry added. “And at the same time, we want some good science. We want some good clinical data.”
