Body found on a condo in Florida after a shot was fired and a bottle was thrown

According to the Monroe County Sheriff, lawmakers found the dead man at the top of the building after gunshots rang out and bottles were thrown from Florida keys and a condo rooftop.

Monroe Sheriff Rick Ramsay told the Miami Herald.

When deputies arrived they heard gunshots coming from the roof, Ramsay said. Ramsay said the agent quickly closed traffic on Sombrero Road, closing the street that runs eastward from US 1 towards the popular beach and setting up a boundary line.

Deputies for the tactical team set up locations from the condo throughout the canal, the sheriff said.

The only access to the roof was through the hatch, and the agent determined that it was too safe for people to violate.

The sheriff’s office requested a helicopter from the Florida Air National Guard to check the rooftop to park at the nearby Marathon International Airport, but the request was denied, Ramsay said.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office then sent two choppers at Monroe’s request, Ramsay said. Dade’s crew flew over the two-storey building and saw blood pouring from his head, Ramsay said.

Monroe’s agent then violated the rooftop and found the man’s body on his side with an AR-15 rifle – died from self-harm, Ramsay said.

Ramsay said his detectives are investigating the situation and motivations.

“We need to sort through all the details,” he said.
