TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Students turn pages over the weekend following a fatal mass shooting at Florida State University a few weeks ago.
The graduation weekend was to celebrate the next chapter in the lives of these students and to reflect on the tragedy that just happened a few weeks ago.

“Miracle”: Cat survives in Utah National Park that killed two Florida hikers

This year’s graduation class is the largest in FSU history, with his historic weekend at Florida State University. The students walked the stage, turned tassels and celebrated with their loved ones.

“There’s no other group of people who have had to go through what you have to do. You’re tough,” said FSU president Richard McCullough.

Graduation weekend comes two weeks after the devastating campus shooting that killed two and injured six others.

“The tragic act of meaningless violence was difficult to understand. We lost dedicated FSU employee Robert Morales and South Carolina visitor Til Chava.

Since the Devalist incident, the Seminole community has united, stayed up and leaned against each other for support, and healed together.

“We lost a member of the FSU family. We are still in mourning. We are still in healing. After that I saw something really worth noting. I saw the students check in with each other.

Quantured, the words students are saying now have much deeper meaning in the past few weeks.

Students and members of the FSU community left this weekend, holding their heads high and embraced years of memory and lessons learned.
