US Senator Ashley Moody has introduced new laws aimed at strengthening US leadership in the space industry by strengthening collaboration between the federal government and Florida’s growing public and civil aerospace organizations.
The bill, entitled The Secure US Leadership in Space Act, seeks to strengthen federal support for space bridge infrastructure, especially in states like Florida, which serve as a major launch hub. The legislation will increase federal coordination with state-led space initiatives, modernize space capabilities, and promote partnerships between commercial space companies and government agencies.
“Florida is the gateway to space,” Moody said. “Our Spaceport, Cape Canaveral in particular, plays a key role in national security and advances in space exploration in the United States. This bill ensures that we will continue to be a global leader in space technology and launch capabilities.”

Instructs the Department of Transport’s Commercial Space Transportation Bureau to coordinate more closely with state and space force authorities. It encourages investments to expand and start functioning space infrastructure. It prioritizes federal government policies that support commercial innovation while protecting national security interests. Promote workforce development to maintain a growing demand for skilled labor in the aerospace sector.
Moody stressed that the law would address growing competition from global rivals, including China, which has increased investment in space capabilities. “We must now act to ensure leadership and ensure that the next generation of space innovation is America-led and that Florida is fired,” she said.
Florida officials and industry leaders praise the bill, citing the state’s unique position as home to both the legacy government’s space business and the expanding commercial spaceflight industry.
The bill has been introduced to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transport for further consideration.
