Discover Cars, a car rental comparison company, analyzed the latest data and, together with expert commentary, has decided on the most popular car models in the United States.
Discover Cars says that the country’s most popular car models are not just things that consumers want to buy, but also things they want to rent on vacation.
The most popular car for all ages is the Honda Civic, with 69% of Americans having a positive opinion about it, and 95% of Americans hearing it. The Toyota Camry continues, which is 67% likes, but I’ve heard 96%. In third place, 67% of Americans prefer Chevrolet Corvettes, and 97% hear about this model.
There were generational differences in the data. Millennials’ favourite car is the Ford Mustang, with 68% saying they like this model. The top car for the Gen X is the Honda Civic, which is preferred by 69% of this generation. For the baby boomer generation, the Toyota Corolla is the top, with 66% saying they like this car.

Men and women choose the Honda Civic as their favorite car, as they are preferred by 73% of men (96% have heard of it) and 66% of women (95% have heard of it).
The car with the lowest popularity rating was the Hyundai Velostar, which 65% of Americans heard, but only 22% have positive opinions.
“It’s interesting to see the Honda Civic come to the top. Last summer, a study of our own data revealed that the most popular models of cars we rent together are usually compact city cars.”
The second most popular car model among American women is the Ford Mustang, and the second most popular model among American men is the Toyota Corolla. It’s interesting to see this sporty model is so popular among women that it’s like a stereotypical masculine reputation, and men choose to choose a compact sedan like citizens.
