“Skin bones”: A Florida woman was arrested after a starving puppy found in the bathroom at home, lawmakers say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Two Florida women were arrested Wednesday after a starving puppy was found in the bathroom, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said.

In a video posted to social media, Sheriff Wayne Ivy said the incident began when the suspect’s home was called to the suspect’s home on March 27 and took the puppy to an animal emergency hospital.

“The dog was very malnourished and weakened in the worst cases. It was a puppy that was not fed,” Ivy said.

The sheriff said his team was not allowed inside the house because the woman “doesn’t want her to see how bad the conditions are.”

“The puppy couldn’t stand up,” Ivy said. “Essentially, this dog was a skin bone.”

Ivy said the dog was kept in the bathroom.

“The (puppy) was not eaten, not fed in any way, and not caring for the vet, so the dog finally called and asked for rescue,” the sheriff said.

Ivy said the woman claimed she didn’t know anything wrong with the dog.

“You’re going to jail for that, so you know something is wrong right now,” Ivy said.

The two women were identified as Alexa Ramos and Keishauna Mass.

They both had been charged with animal abuse and left the animals surrounded without exercise or fresh air, the sheriff said.

Other details about the case were not immediately available.
