FORT PIERCE, Fla. (WFLA) – The victims of the 1986 cold case murder have been actively identified almost 40 years after it was held.

On October 7, 1986, the body of an unidentified man was found in the Grove area southwest of Selvitz Road, Ralls Road.

The victim was detained and appeared to have been shot multiple times in execution-style murders.

The investigation resumed in 2019, allowing the court to excavate the victim’s bodies in 2020, allowing additional biological samples to be collected. However, these newly obtained DNA results were insufficient forensic genetic genealogy until March 2024.

On January 8th, the victim’s potential relatives were identified through a genealogy report, and it was revealed that the victim’s identity was 39-year-old Brain Louis Brown after DNA samples confirmed a match.

Brown was the owner of Ocala Horse Ranch, Double B Farms Inc. and Brown’s excellent furniture.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Brown was reported missing the same day his body was found at Fort Pierce.

His family reported that he had not been seen since September 26th of that year. The initial interview with the family revealed that he may have been involved in drug smuggling.

If anyone has more information about the case, they should contact Detective Paul Taylor along with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office cold case unit at 772-359-4407.
