According to Miami Beach police, a Fort Lauderdale man climbed into the hotel’s valet room and stole a luxury car worth nearly $2 million.
Gregory Sean Yearty Jr., 24, was arrested Monday after saying he had stole four gorgeous vehicles from the 2001 Setay Hotel parking lot on Collins Avenue, including the ghosts of the Lamborghini Urus and Rolls-Royce.
Surveillance video shows a male police officer who was identified as sneaking into the Bullet Keyroom raw on the ground at around 2am on July 6, 2024, when he got inside, grabbed some key fobs, snuggled around, apparently trying to avoid noticing on camera.
Police say they chased the year with two stolen cars accompanied by two unidentified men. He returned just before 6am and took two more cars. The surveillance video was tracked along with a man during the theft and returned surveillance video saw an escalade of a rental black Cadillac.
The investigation began after multiple reports of vehicles stolen from hotel guests. Detectives used video footage, car rental records and mobile phone tracking data to identify the year. He later settled himself at Miami Beach Police Headquarters.
The year has faced four major thefts and robberies of the occupied structure. He is jailed Wednesday morning at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre. It was not immediately clear whether he held the lawyer.
“If you come to Miami Beach to sacrifice our community, you will be accountable,” Police Chief Wayne Jones said in a statement.
