Democrats cited a “whistleblower report,” which claims Doge staff had access to the Labor Commission system.
More than 50 House Democrats have written to the Trump administration to seek answers to the “whistleblower report” from federal labor committee officials who filed allegations against Elon Musk-led Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“The account claims … Doge officials extracted a large amount of information, intentionally deleted details about the extracted information, and released workers’ data in the process,” the Democrat’s letter said, adding that Doge officials came to NLRB headquarters last month to give high levels of access to the board’s system.
According to the report, Doge staff were also allowed to read, copy and modify the board’s data, Democrats said in their letter. This was addressed to William Cowen, an advisor to the National Labor Relations Commission.
“These revelations from the whistleblower report are very concerning for several reasons,” a lawmaker who is part of the Congressional Labour Caucus said in a letter to Cowen. “If true, these revelations explain a reckless approach to the handling of sensitive personal information by workers, which could expose these workers to retaliation to engage in legally protected union activities.”
Democrats then requested information regarding alleged DOGE activities at the NLRB. This claims that Doge staff has obtained 10 gigabytes of data from the system, whether they have accessed an internal case management system. They also asked about reports that Doge had visited the board’s headquarters on April 16th.
The Epoch Times reached the White House Friday for comment. Doge, Musk, Cowen, and the White House have also not publicly responded to the letter’s allegations.
Under the National Labor Relations Act, the NLRB is designated in a hearing complaint regarding private sector employers who are allegedly engaged in unfair labor practices. We also implement collective bargaining agreements between the union and the company.
Created by Trump in January, Doge is tasked with eradicating abuse, waste and fraud from the federal government. Agent staff will go to various agencies, departments and boards to recommend various reductions and termination of contracts.
Musk and Trump say Doge is needed for what they say is a massive amount of taxpayer dollars wasted with unnecessary programs. The White House also said the effort was part of Trump’s plan to reduce the federal administrative state and restructure the government.
