Gov. Ron DeSantis has announced more than $14.5 million through the Florida Employment Growth Grant Fund (JGGF) to support Florida improvements and Florida workforce training. Funds have been awarded to Indian River State College, Miami-Dade College, Sebring Airport Authority and Wakula County for projects that advance major industries such as aviation, aerospace and manufacturing.

“The Florida Employment Growth Grant Fund will promote economic development by supporting critical infrastructure projects and expanding workforce training opportunities at the local level,” Desantis said.

“We continue to support Florida’s job creation and economic prosperity with a focus on Governor DeSantis’ commitment and investment in infrastructure and workforce, particularly target sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace and aviation.” “These strategic investments in the Indian River, Miami-Dade, Highlands and Wakula Counties support economic growth and provide new opportunities for job seekers and job creators in these communities.”

The following entities will receive awards through the Florida Employment Growth Grant Fund.

Indian River State College ($4,000,000) – Provides accelerated technical vocational training to meet the needs of production and industrial manufacturers within the university’s service area to develop laboratories for industrial manufacturing and production training. Miami-Dade College ($4,896,207) – Create two new aircraft mechanic programs. The two programs allow graduates to seamlessly transition from Miami-Dade College to maintenance, repair and operational facilities with minimal additional training. Sebring Airport Authority ($2,113,560) – Rebuild the road and rebuild Webster Turn Drive. This important road improvement will improve local logistics efficiency and enable local businesses to access roads between the logistics centre and the airport. Wakura County ($3,500,000) – For the development and construction of two county-owned buildings to expand manufacturing opportunities within Wakura County Opportunity Park.
