DELTONA, Fla. (WFLA) – A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on multiple felony charges after saying he tried to poison his adoptive mother with bleach.
It was the morning of April 19th that the boy’s 77-year-old mother went to the kitchen of his house in Volsia County to drink milk. But after pouring milk into a glass and taking a sip, she was soon hit by a “strong chemical taste,” senators told NBC affiliate Wesh.

The other son of the woman was at home at the time and called 911. On the phone, he can hear the 17-year-old put “Clorox” in a milk container and tell the dispatcher that he is “attempting to poison” his mother.
A body camera video released by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies who arrive at the house and talk to the boy’s mother.
At one point, the aide asks her, “How much do you think you had?”
“I think I had a bit, and I tasted it,” she replied.
The aide smelled milk and confirmed that there was a strong smell of bleach.
The teenage mother did not report any immediate symptoms but requested a medical evaluation.
Authorities discovered the 17-year-old was hiding in a room at home.
Investigators said the teenager told them he was aware of the danger and that his mother was meant to get sick. He was angry with his mother and added that he didn’t want to live with her.
According to WESH, the teen was arrested on a felony charge of addiction to food and water, attempting felony murder, and aggravating elder abuse.
