According to the Nevers Confortation Safety Board, Fremont, Nebraska.

Very little is available for Friday evening crashes as it is the early stages of the NTSB investigation. The agency’s preliminary reports are expected in a few weeks, but the final reports identifying the cause may not be issued for more than a year.

Officials at Fremont Airport told KETV that the planes were flying without turning on the introducer, but Scott Vlasek, director of the University of Nebraska Aviation Research Institute, said it wasn’t necessary because the planes were flying along the river in uncontrolled airspace.

Investigators will look at the maintenance records of the 71-year-old Cessna 180 for signs of mechanical problems that may have contributed to the crash.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the three people who died in a crash as Daniel Williams, 43, of Moundridge, Kansas. Jeff Bittinger, 50; Randy Amrain, 48. Bittinger and Amrain lived in Fremont, Nebraska.
