OCALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Shalimar man was charged with neglect of childhood after authorities found the child on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Oscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the child contacted his mother after 64-year-old Valerio de Guevara left the child alone and said “he doesn’t deserve to eat.”

Deputies arrived at the scene after the child’s mother called Osco. Authorities said the home was confused as there was animal urine and feces on the floor and there was no edible food.
The child was bitten by various fleas on his legs and told authorities he had not eaten since the day before.
Authorities said they have revealed that Deguerbara withheld food from the child as punishment.
