TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) – Five of six hospitalized patients injured during mass shootings at Florida State University last week have been released from hospital. One victim remains in good condition.

Tallahassee Memorial Hospital announced the update Tuesday morning, sharing that all but one of the injured have been discharged. By Monday, the three had already been discharged from the hospital.

“I don’t want to go back”: FSU class resumes following fatal mass shooting

“We are extremely proud of the response from our team on April 17th and are honored to be the hospital chosen to provide that level of care,” the hospital said. “Our commitment to our community remains immovable and our hearts lie in Florida State students, faculty and staff, as well as many families affected by this tragedy.”

On April 17, Phoenix Ichner, a suspected shooter of 20-year-old shooter, opened fire near the Student Union, known as a popular spot on campus. Leon County vice-chairman, Ichner, was taken into custody and taken to hospital. He was said to have access to her personal handgun, which was found on campus.

Two foodservice employees identified as Tilchava, the father of two, 45, and FSU alumni Robert Morales were killed during active shooting. The other six were taken to TMH due to injuries. An all-night stay up through FSU throughout the weekend to honor the victims.

“It’s enough”: Students seek change in the aftermath of FSU tragedy

Court records revealed that Ikner suffered from several physical and mental health issues requiring drugs, including ADHD and growth hormone disorders.

An FBI official told NBC News that he originally went with a different name, Christian Gunnar Eriksen, and changed his name in 2020 to take his father’s name. In 2015, Ichner was at the heart of a custody battle when his mother, Anne Mari Eriksen, fled to Norway with Ichner against his father’s wish.

On Monday, the university resumed classes, but allowed students to attend options this week to tackle the horrifying event on April 17th. Spring is still scheduled for next weekend, with the first round of students graduating on the morning of May 2nd.
