The U.S. Department of Education has announced grant recipients for the reproduction and expansion of the 2025 Charter School Program (CSP) of high quality charter school grants. Overall, there are eight awards totaling over $87 million awarded over the lifetime of the grant. These grants will be used to replicate and expand high-performance charter schools across the country.

Currently, 8,150 charter schools serve more than 3.7 million public school students in 44 states, including the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.

FY2025 Florida grant recipients are:

Academir Charter Schools (Miami, FL) aims to continue its legacy of excellence by opening five additional schools over the next five years. We will also expand eight of our existing high-quality charter schools.

Slam Florida (Miami, Florida) is looking to expand four existing charter schools by faithfully implementing Slam’s 6-12 model, adding 3,927 high-quality student stations over five years.

“We are pleased to announce that we are a great opportunity to see the nation’s alliance,” said Starley Coleman, president and CEO of the National Alliance of the National Public Charter Schools. “We are excited that the U.S. Department of Education continues to invest in the growth of high-quality public charter schools through its charter school program. These grants have access to more students, particularly excellent public schools, historically, to get access to public schools, and to attend schools that work for them.”
