TALHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A timeline released Friday by Tallahassee police revealed more about the moment the shooter fired at Florida State University and the police’s response afterwards.

The Tallahassee Police Department said the incident unfolded as follows:

11am

The suspect, Pheonix Ikner, a university student, pulled into a campus parking garage around 11am. He was then able to see him pacing in areas in and out of the vehicle for about an hour.

He finally left the parking lot at 11:51am.

11:56am

Police said the first shot was fired five minutes later. They believe that Ichner is in and out of buildings and green spaces, firing handguns.

11:58am

Witnesses began flooding 911 with a phone call reporting a man who was actively shot dead on campus around 11:58pm, when nearby police officers were also rushing to the area around that time.

12pm

The entire shoot lasted less than five minutes. Authorities said officers found Ichner around noon and shot him after he refused their orders. He was then taken to the hospital.

“What we saw on April 17 was an extraordinary example of teamwork and professionalism when we faced such a horrible event,” said Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Rebel. “This type of response is no coincidence. It is the result of a common commitment to training, partnerships and protecting our community.”

Two foodservice workers identified as Til Chava and Robert Morales were killed in the shooting. Hospital staff said six others were injured but are expected to make a full recovery.

Police said Friday that they were still working to interview witnesses and victims, and that the investigation was active. The FBI has established a digital tips media line that allows you to upload photos and videos that can be accessed at www.fbi.gov/fsushooting.
