TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the flag to be flew by half staff after a gunman fired on Florida State University campus Thursday.

Tallahassee police say the 20-year-old gunman, the son of a sheriff’s deputy, killed two people and injured six people in the attack.

Two food service employees killed in FSU shooting

In a memo, DeSantis instructed us and Florida flag states to fly half staff “to recognize the courage our first responders demonstrate to us in commemoration of the lives lost in this tragedy.”

The two who were killed were identified as food service employees.

A spokesman for Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare said in a statement Friday that two of the six injured patients are expected to be discharged from the hospital. The condition of the three shooting victims has improved, but another shooting condition remained “fair.”
