Florida woman terrified after her daughter’s murderer was accidentally released from prison

Kissimmee, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman fears her life after her daughter’s murderer was accidentally released from prison to life in prison several months later.

Kathan Guzman was convicted in October of strangled 19-year-old Deli La Grayson in 2022. NBC affiliate Wesh reported that the two attended Poissiana High School in Kissimmee and moved to Georgia together.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said Guzman’s release came from workers not paying attention.

Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen said Guzman was accused of being convicted and missed in court documents. Staff said they only saw the move to not be charged with another charge.

Wesh spoke with Christina Grayson, Delilah Grayson’s mother.

Now she is afraid of her life and barely falls asleep.

“How does this happen?” Grayson told NBC affiliate WXIA. “I’m stoned for my life. So obviously life didn’t mean anything to him.”

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said they didn’t first warn the public about Guzman’s release because they didn’t want him to let him know they were looking for him.

Grayson told Wesh that he wasn’t just worried about his life.

“You should be afraid. Someone can get hurt, hurt, or die,” she said.

The former US Department of S helps place the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office in Guzman’s position.
