Gainesville, Fla. (WFLA) – University of Florida students arrested for ice after a traffic stop have been sent back to Columbia.

Body camera video released by Gainesville Police found that on March 28, 27-year-old Felipeza Patavelasquez was arrested for several traffic violations, including driving with a license suspended, attaching a license plate, or driving with an expired vehicle registration.

They arrested him after police ousted Zapatta Velázquez out of the vehicle.

On Wednesday, protesters at the University’s Young Democrat Socialist Chapter marched into the UF President’s office, showing their frustration of traffic stops in deportation.

Earlier this week, Rep. Maxwell Frost (FL-10) called on the Trump administration for the atrocities that followed college students on a “government-funded inducing program.” He added that he will use every resource he can to keep managers accountable.

“Donald Trump ran with the promise of deporting violent criminals and gang members. Instead, he invited the temptation to detain him, and saw it by any legal visa holder like Felipe, and anyone who opposed this administration,” Rep. Frost said.

The students were transferred to the Miami-Dade County Chrome Processing Center before voluntarily returning to Columbia on April 6, ICE officials said.

Zapata Velasquez majored in Food and Resource Economics at the University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
