Winter Springs, Fla. (WFLA) – “A few” Florida high school students were taken to hospital after drinking too much alcohol at a school prom event.

In an email sent to parents at Winter Springs High School, obtained by NBC affiliate WESH, the principal shared what he called a “disappointing update.”

Florida law enforcement has shut down “international child porn ring,” AG says

“As you may know, tonight, Winter Springs High has a prom at SeaWorld,” wrote Principal Peter Gaffney. “Unfortunately, there were some students sneaking into a small container of alcohol and some other students who appeared in the event who were drunk.”

Gaffney went on to say that “several” students were taken to the hospital due to an overdose of alcohol. He said the person in charge has been identified, his parents have been contacted and he is facing disciplinary action.

“This is not the way we imagined this evening, but safety for all students is our number one priority, and this type of behavior will be unacceptable and unacceptable,” Gaffney writes.

According to WESH, district representatives did not say how many students participated in the incident.
