A new study revealed the most affordable universities, with Florida boasting two of the top five and two of the top five.
Research.com looked at the total cost of attending each university, including average tuition fees, fees, housing, food, and educational materials.
The university was then ranked at the highest position and most affordable, allowing a more complete understanding of the actual costs that future students could expect to incur during their university education.
The most affordable university is the University of Florida, with students expecting to spend an average of $18,941 for each academic year. The average annual tuition and fee cost at the University of Florida is $6,381, with an average room and board cost of $11,500. When it comes to books and supplies, students can expect to spend around $1,060 each year.
The second most affordable university is the University of South Florida, with an average total annual cost of $19,551. Here, books, supplies, tuition and fees are cheaper than the University of Florida, costing an average of $770 and $5,498, respectively. However, the rooms and boards are more expensive, with students paying an average of $13,283 each year.
Purdue University is third, with an average annual total cost of $21,182. Indiana-based Purdue University students can expect to pay an average of $10,030 for rooms and boards and $1,160 for books and supplies each year. Tuition at this university averages $9,992 for each academic year.
Fourth place is Florida State University, which costs an average of $21,233 each year. Tuition and fees are averaged at this university at $7,493 per year than Purdue University, while rooms and boards are more expensive, at around $12,740. Students spend an average of $1,000 per year on books and supplies.
In fifth place is the University of Central Florida, with an average annual cost of $21,586. Students, the fourth Florida entry in this top 10 listing, can expect to spend an average of $8,258 on annual tuition and fees. Rooms and boards average $12,328, while books and consumables average $1,000 each year.
