Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) – It was the lively atmosphere of Amalie Arena.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are back in the NCAA Championship Games to compete for their second consecutive national title.

“Daily Match Day”: NCAA honors locals and influencing young student-athletes

Two former gamecock women were in the stands cheering for the team. Both played in the 2015 Final Four and say they were hoping the Gamecocks would win on Friday. One of them shared how the Gamecocks should prepare ahead of Sunday’s championship.

“Accepting your role, scout reports are important and listen to your coaches. She’s not going to lead you wrong,” Olivia Gaines said.

Gaines said he hopes South Carolina will face UConn on Sunday.

But UCLA Bruins fans should not count them.

“I feel pretty good. Page Booker, I don’t think it’s going to be her day. Lauren Betts will defend her pretty well. I think it’s going to be pretty good for UCLA,” a UCLA fan said.

Husky fans ask to do something different.

“I hope Sarah Strong will do her. Of course, Page Bookers will get up. And I hope that the younger people won’t be too scared and scared in this vibe. I think we’ll be fine,” said a UConn fan.
