Ocala, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman pretending to be a PayPal employee to drive a Florida woman out of her money said.

In a video posted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a woman approached the victim, pretending to be a PayPal employee, claiming she had a “overpayment issue.”

The video shows the suspect tricking the victim into giving her money by promising to fix the issue.

Deputies said they found the suspect’s impersonation heading towards the village area last.

Investigators say older people are more often victims of fraud as underreported crimes.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office told WESH reporters that the neighborhood, which is recently located in the southwest area near State Road 200, reported a total loss of $1.2 million in two months due to the fraud.

Deputies encourage people to be conscious and hardworking.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of a PayPal employee’s impersonator should contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111 or call anonymous tips to a Marion County Crime Stopper at 352-368-7867.
