PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A man has been arrested after his roommate came home and found hemorrhage on the ground, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim returned home to a heartbreaking scene from work, and his four-year-old pit bull, Gypsy, lying on the ground with obvious injuries to her legs and abdomen.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the victim’s roommate Gabriel Martinez had attacked the dog with a metal trailer hitter and a ball, with surveillance footage showing the dog attacking more than four minutes.

Gypsy was taken to animal care and control for treatment and was diagnosed with a broken leg, multiple fractures of limbs, contagion bones and abdominal bleeding, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Veterinarians will confirm that they are experiencing significant pain when the gypsy enters and may face long-term health issues as a result of the attack.

The sheriff’s office said the Gypsy is currently recovering at home.

Martinez was later arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
