Cape Coral, Fla. (WFLA) – Overnight airplanes have appeared in Florida neighborhoods, igniting confusion from residents and local government officials.
According to a report from NBC’s affiliate WBBH, the aircraft is sitting in sight in an empty field near Cape Coral.
The sheriff announced his arrest in “the biggest fentanyl bust in Manatee County history.”
“I have no problem with having a boat in a person’s yard, but is there an airplane in my backyard?” said neighbor Nancy Reposa. “Now, that’s a different story.”
The plane has a lack of wings, noses and doors, and some wonder why it appears to have suddenly appeared in their neighborhood.
“I don’t think I saw a neighbor coming in during the day, so I think they tracked it overnight,” Reposa told WBBH.

Another neighbor told the outlet that the plane had been around for months.
“I like aviation,” Dmitri Piunoff told WBBH. “For me, seeing them wake up in the morning and be there, it’s kind of cool, but I think they’re going to do something with it.”
Even local officials were confused by the plane. A Cape Coral spokesman told the outlet he didn’t know that the plane existed and that he didn’t know about the plan.
Thankfully, the mystery of the dismantled plane has been solved. A nearby Sharkey aluminum and screen repair employee said they were working to turn the plane into a new restaurant table.
