ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – The Orlando Police Department has arrested a man after stealing and swallowing nearly $1 million in gemstone.
According to WESH, police said on February 26th that Tiffany & Co was at a mall in Millennia. Responded to a report of robbery.
Police said suspect Jathan Guilder, 32, pretended to represent Orlando’s magical player to access the store.
Guilder is taken to a private room to see the gems, while he grabs the gems and runs away from the room, injuring two employees in the process.
Police were able to find Guilder with the help of cameras in the mall parking lot.
Orlando police arrested Guilder and they said he confessed to swallowing the jewel, but that was confirmed.
Guilder was taken to a nearby hospital, where police said on March 10th that four Tiffany & Co. He said he could recover three of the earrings.
They also retrieved two additional diamond earrings, which were unidentified.
The fourth Tiffany & Co. Earring was collected on March 12th.
The detective was able to match them to earrings stolen from the mall through a serial number printed on the earrings.
Police charged Guilder with robbery with masks and first-degree grand larceny.
According to the OPD, he also faces 48 individual warrants extra charges from Colorado.
