MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – Zoo Miami has released a series of photos behind the scenes watching one cheetah wellness exam.
Koda, a 13-year-old male cheetah, has been at the zoo Miami for over a decade, is a special ambassador and regularly appears in the zoo’s amphitheater program.
As part of his exams, Koda underwent ultrasound, endoscopy, dental lavage, and collected blood and urine samples.
The zoo was pleased to report that Koda was healthy for a cheetah of his age.
In the wild, cheetahs usually don’t live more than 10 years, but in captivity they can reach up to 15 years of age.
Koda has retired from regular appearances at the zoo and spends her days relaxing in her now unexposed habitat.
