Rick Scott and Ashley Moody introduce legislation to bring NASA HQ to Florida’s Space Coast

Florida Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody have announced the efficient implementation of aerospace programs under the Canaveral (Cape Canaveral) Act. The bill will move the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) headquarters from Washington, DC to the Florida Space Coast in Brevard County. As NASA explores new facility options, Florida is the common sense choice for a new headquarters to save US taxes, promote innovation and solidify American domination in space.

“Now is no better place at NASA’s headquarters than Florida’s Space Coast, where our country’s brightest mind innovates and helps America reach the stars,” Scott said. “The move to Florida not only saves taxes on Americans, but also streamlines our business by increasing the efficiency and the greatest workforce of this critical industry, close to the largest workforce ready to help America achieve its space exploration goals. We have worked hard to make Florida the thriving aerospace hub today. We look forward to welcoming the rapid passage of our laws and NASA to the best states in the country!”

“Florida is a leader in space exploration and aerospace innovation,” Sen. Ashley Moody said. Establishing NASA headquarters within the Space Coast will bridge the bureaucratic gap from top to bottom, connecting stakeholders. Florida is the gateway to space, and this common sense proposal will save taxpayers money, encourage collaboration with private space companies, and leverage Florida’s talented workforce to promote further innovation. As the custodian of taxpayer dollars, we need to ensure that the new building is filled with employees. Pass the Cape Canaveral Act and thrive with NASA headquartered in Florida. ”
