Investigators say the Illinois woman’s visit to Florida fell to a fatal end when she rode an early morning golf cart from a man accused of being drunk.
It happened on a drive about 60 miles northwest of Orlando in the village before 1am on Sunday.
Investigators say 58-year-old Richard Allen Kale was driving a cart in a residential area when he encountered a parked vehicle and avoided hitting it, the Florida Highway patrol reported in a news release.
“A 60-year-old female passenger from Norwich, Illinois fell from his golf cart and was seriously injured,” Troopers said.
“A passenger transported to an area hospital was later expired after being injured during a collision.”
Kale, who lives in the village, was arrested and charged with manslaughter of DUI, officials said. He is restrained without a bond.
The woman’s identity has not been released, and investigators have not stated how she and Kale are connected. Her home is a drive about 15 miles northwest of Chicago.
