Chinese citizens arrested for conspiracy to commit wire fraud by Florida

Chinese citizens have been arrested for conspiring to commit wire fraud against Floridians. According to an official statement from the US Lawyer’s Office for the Central District of Florida, U.S. Rep. Sarah C. Sweeney has announced her return to the charges that Jian Khao (33, China) indicted a conspiracy to commit a conspiracy. If convicted, CAOs face the biggest penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The CAO is currently in custody waiting for the case to be resolved.

According to the accusations, starting at least in October 2024 and continuing until December 12, 2024, CAO conspired with others to commit wire fraud. The CAO and other co-conspirators attempted to achieve fraud by gaining access to the victim’s computer, fraudulently posing as representative of the victim’s financial institution, and fraudulently casting the victim that their account was subject to fraud or criminal conduct. Members of the conspiracy then instruct the victim to withdraw money from the account and purchase the money and provide it to the conspirator. The conspirator then travels to the victim to get money. During the conspiracy, the conspirators exchanged electronic communications with each other, including details of the victim’s location.

The indictment is a formal charge of defendant committing one or more violations of federal criminal code, and all defendants are presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty.

The incident was investigated by the Homeland Security Investigation and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He is indicted by Assistant US Attorney Sarah Janet Swartzberg.
