TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Therapeutic wheel cyclists ride bikes from Tampa to Tallahassee and are raising funds for cancer research.

This is part of the annual Capitol Ride event, which includes a 325-mile advocacy trip that ends up on the steps of the Florida State Capitol.

The approximately 35 dedicated team members will leave Moffit McKinley Hospital on Sunday to begin their rides to the Florida Capitol and arrive on Wednesday to begin their annual Moffit Day.

Members of the Cure on Wheels team will present three checks of $40,000 to support blood and bone marrow transplant services, prostate cancer research, and fertility resources in young adults.

Moffit Day is the day for researchers, doctors, patients, volunteers and advocates to join forces to meet lawmakers to advocate for the Cancer Center by highlighting the statewide and beyond impact.
