The US Secret Service shot an adult man near the White House following a “armed conflict” with law enforcement shortly after midnight on March 9, the agency said.
The day before, local police reported that “suicides” could travel from Indiana to Washington, the agency said. After Secret Service agents found the individual’s vehicle, they saw someone who matched the description stepped in.
“As officers approached, individuals wielded firearms and armed conflicts continued, during which time they were fired by staff,” the agency said.
Authorities transported the suspect to hospital and his condition is currently unknown. No injuries have been reported among the secret service personnel and the incident remains under investigation, the agency added.
