Gainesville, Fla. (WFLA) – Two people were killed in a murder-suicide shooting in Gainesville on Saturday.
According to a GPD news release, the Gainesville Police Department was called to investigate a domestic failure reported in the 6100 block of NW 30th Terrace just before 6am.
Two people were arrested and one injured in a shooting at a Pasco County gas station.
A family called police after the suspect pointed a gun at the victim’s head during discussion. Police said the family members tried to remove the situation but reported hearing gunshots.
Once they were outside the house, officers tried to contact the suspect by phone.
“The serious nature of the phone, reporting additional firearms within the residence, history of domestic-related issues, past military experience of the suspect, and the SWAT and negotiation response teams have been revitalized and responded to support,” the GPD news release said.
The SWAT team found the suspect and victim dead inside the home with bullet wounds. The suspect is believed to have shot the victim before shooting the gun himself.
“The Gainesville Police Department expresses sadness to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” GPD said.
