A Florida man wins a free speech case via Trump banner, and the county is ordered to pay $42,000

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — A Santa Rosa Beach man just won a free speech lawsuit against Walton County.

Marvin Peavy went viral in 2021 after hanging two big banners supporting Donald Trump from his balcony at his 30A. County officials said the banner violated property maintenance rules.

Peebee refused to remove the banner, claiming that the rules violated his right to free speech.
So the county began fines him $50 a day, the day he remained at his home every day.

The case was sent to court and had been suing for several years. Meanwhile, several people offered to pay the fine. Others wanted to start a GoFundMe page.

Peevee not only refused their offer, but also refused to pay the fine. Well, tonight he doesn’t need to do that.

On Friday, a judge ruled the county was wrong and ordered county officials to pay $42,000 in legal costs and fines. Peebee is still flying his playing cards banner.
