Elon Musk has rekindled debates on daylight savings as most of the country is set to “Spring Forward” this weekend.
“If the change in daylight savings time is cancelled, then one hour before (or) after (or) Musk asked his followers in the poll that ended Thursday afternoon.
Over 1.3 million X users joined Musk’s Survey. A poll that ended Thursday afternoon showed that 58.1% voted “an hour later, 41.9% voted “an hour ago.”
The clock is expected to move forward one hour before 2am on Sunday, March 9th. Americans lose an hour of sleep, but can enjoy the sun late in the evening until the clock “falls” for an hour until November at least.
President Donald Trump has long vowed to finish two rituals a year.
Currently, only most of Hawaii and Arizona are not taking part in the practice.
The Senate passed the bill in 2022, but failed in the House.
Earlier this year, Republican Sen. Rick Scott, of Florida, reintroduced it.
“I always hear from Americans that they’re tired of changing their watches twice a year. It’s an unnecessary decades-old habit and it’s more of annoyed to their families than profits,” Scott said in a January 8 press release. “I’m excited to have President Trump return to the White House and be on board fully to lock the watch, so that he can pass this good bill and make this common sense change that simplifies and benefits American families.”
