TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida Sen. Joe Gluters pulled a bill that transformed the Tamami Trail into the “American Bay Trail.”
“After receiving community feedback, I removed the renamed goat roads bill to avoid unnecessary distractions in my work. I have an important and challenging job on bills that allow me to fight for our community.

The bill would have been renamed to the US portion between SR 60 and US 1 in Miami-Dade, Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota, Manatee and Hillsboro counties.
The bill proposed by Gruters must use educational materials that reflect the name “American Bay” on state agencies, county school districts and charter school boards. That portion of the bill will continue to be considered during the Florida legislative meeting.
