With the playoffs approaching, the Florida Panthers still sit neatly.
The defending Stanley Cup champion continues to rank first in the Atlantic division, improving to 43-25-3 in a 4-3 shootout that won the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.
Florida’s 89 points leads both the Toronto Maple Leafs (87) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (85).
After a six-game road trip, the home game with the Penguins was a welcome sight.
“I’m happy to be at home for so long and get support from the fans,” forward Anton Landell said after the victory. “I’m really pleased with our fight today.”
After enjoying the two days apart from the Rink, the Panthers will return to the ice for practice on Wednesday, in preparation for two more matches at Amerant Bank Arena.
With welcoming 2024 Stanley Cup champion Kevin Stenland to Sunrise, the Panthers will begin the week by hosting the Utah Hockey Club on Friday. They then close their home stands on Sunday in the afternoon battle with Canada in Montreal.
Both games will be part of Soflorida Weekend. See below for more information about this.

The final dance with Yuta
The Panthers will close out the season series with Utah on Friday.
At the first meeting on January 8th, the Panthers won 4-1 at Delta Center.
Jesper Boqvist, who helped the Panthers score two points during their first trip to Salt Lake City, scored a pair of goals in the victory, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of his 26 shots.
At the time of this writing, Utah has posted a 5-4-1 record in the last 10 games, earning six points from the Western Conference’s second wildcard spot.
Clayton Keller scores Utah with 78 points (24 goals, 54 assists), while Nick Schmaltz ranks second with 57 points (17 goals, 40 assists).
The game also returned for the first time at Kevin Stenland’s sunrise after helping the Panthers win the Stanley Cup in June.
In addition to playing an integral role in penalty kills, Stenland scored 15 points (11 goals, 4 assists) in 81 regular-season games against the Panthers in 2023-24.

Panthers wandering
Making a difference didn’t look as cool.
At a press conference Monday at Baptist Health Iceplex, the American Cancer Society (ACS) announced the launch of Panthers on the Prowl, a Southeast Florida fundraising campaign that supports cancer research, patient services and more.
Co-chaired by Bill Jeet, general manager of the Florida Panthers hockey business, and general manager, and his wife, Julie, Panthers on the Prowl brings together art, community and philanthropy to support cancer research while celebrating the pride of South Florida hockey.
Donors to “Panthers on the Prowl” can acquire a body-shaped Panther sculpture intended to be displayed in workplaces, restaurants, meeting rooms, homes, etc.
“Julie and I are thrilled to launch this unique initiative to support the critical work of the American Cancer Society,” Bill Jeet said. “This campaign invites the South Florida community to wander around and raise funds and awareness for causes that are close to our hearts. Viewing Panther sculptures shows you’re “inside” and supports your vision of ending cancer for anyone. ”
