Odyssey, a Fort Lauderdale lawyer who disappeared for at least $630,000, aims to care for Octane women, goes to Philadelphia and returns to Fort Lauderdale, ends in Texas.
Specifically, a federal prison in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
On June 26th in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court, Judge David Leibowitz ordered 55-year-old John Spencer Jenkins, who was surrendered on Friday to spend time in the federal prison at Metroplex, where his family is. After pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering, Jenkins earned two years, nine months per claim, and $760,865 in restitution in addition to the sentence provided simultaneously.
Another part of Jenkins’ sentence is a 500-hour residential drug and alcohol treatment program. And the line from his only subject support letter — “John has completed his residential substance abuse program and continues to attend AA/NA meetings regularly” — shows what has forced him to abandon his promising legal career that has disappeared in the housing complex of neighbor William Walters.
Elimination actions and funds
Like Jenkins, Walters lived in Wilton Manor. Walters founded his fortune to go to care for his nephew, two Nie and sister. The sister is currently 89 years old, and is the age at which Walters passed away on October 18, 2021.
As the property enforcer, Walters nephew Larry Corbyn hired Jenkins, also known as “Spencer.”
“(Jenkins) is represented by (Corbin) and deposits (Walters’) real estate-related funds into a Jenkins Law Firm (Trust) account, allowing (Jenkins) to manage the distribution of assets during (Walters’) Diestee.
After Walters’ property was settled, $543,832 was wired to the Jenkins company’s trust account. He quickly transferred some of the money through several other accounts, cash moves that encouraged money laundering fees.
Jenkins’ admission states, “He actually caused a deposit of money from (Walters’) real estate in the (trust) account of Jenkins Law Firm, pretending to be distributing the property when, in fact, he embezzled the funds for his own personal use.”
Jenkins also took $88,000, which was wired for another client after the sale of commercial assets.
Walters’ property money didn’t reach his family based in Louisville, Kentucky.
Another Jenkins client, Peter Mullins, argued in the lawsuit that he had abandoned his case at all, and that Mullins had no idea about his judgment on him until he learned that he had a lien on the property he wanted to sell.
Corbyn had not heard from Jenkins for the month he filed a complaint with Florida Bar on July 17, 2023. Jenkins’s law firm’s state registration documents expired in September 2023. His Fort Lauderdale office was empty. His phone number has been cut off.

Jenkins was found in Philadelphia on September 12, 2024 and was charged several days later.
U.S. attorney Altanese Feneros handled the prosecution in the case.
