Brevard County has been covered in thick fog recently, and many have asked if somehow the hazy condition has been stuck so long, and what is causing them.
The National Weather Service issued several recommendations this month, including Monday, warning residents about thick fog. Despite several social media posts, weather experts said fog was not a bacterial attack and was not harmful.
What causes all the fog in Brevard County?
Megan Trefsen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne, said the triple weather conditions have become a favourable fog condition.
“High pressure, light winds and ample moisture puts us in a pattern for the development of fog,” Trevsen said.
How long does the fog last in Brevard County?
That’s a difficult question to answer.
It’s difficult to predict fog for more than a few days. But Tollefsen said it means that high pressure areas will stick by Wednesday.
“On Thursday morning, the pattern changes a little and the winds increase, which is not very good for fog development,” Tollefsen said.
Are there any harmful bacteria in the fog?
no.
British publications helped to burn fire when they cited Florida residents who claimed to get sick from the fog. The publication compared the mist with an “operation sheath spray.” This is a secret biological war experiment conducted by the US Navy in 1950.
What was considered harmless bacteria at the time was sprayed into the San Francisco Gulf region to determine how quickly and far away the bacteria could spread.
However, bacteria were not as harmless as thought. At least one American was killed and the other 10 became seriously ill.
Trefson said there’s no need to worry about the fog covering the blanket.
“Fost is essentially like clouds on the ground, just water droplets in the air.”
