Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Ottawa on May 26th, greeted by Prime Minister Mark Carney, who gave a speech from the throne and decided to hold a new parliament.
The Royals were greeted at Ottawa International Airport by Governor Carney and Governor Mary Simon. The airport was also attended by First Nations National Prime Minister Cindy Wood House Nepineck, President Victoria Pruden of Metis National Council, President Inuit Tapirit Kanatami and sanitary guards from the 25 Royal Canadian dragoons.
The statement added that King Charles’ upcoming speech from the throne on May 27th “talks to our enduring traditions and friendship, our constitutional monarchy and our distinct identity vitality, and historic connections that the crisis only strengthens.” This is the first time Monarch has given speeches on the throne since 1977.
The statement said the speech was set to outline the “ambitious plan” of the Liberal government to define new economic and security ties between Canada and the United States, strengthen the economy, reduce costs of living, and keep Canadians safe.
