NAPOLIA, Fla. (WFLA) – A severe Florida brush fire was very close to the home on Wednesday.

A video by Greg Milewitz showed intense flames and smoke taking over the backyards of several homes in Naples’ Wilshire Lakes neighborhood.

“It’s exploitive heat. I called the fire department where they were supposed to be here,” Milewitz said in the video.

A woman from Palm Harbor fell asleep with a cigarette, set it on fire and caught the bed before being saved by her neighbor

Milewicz’s video shows some people fighting the flames with garden hoses. He told some of his neighbors to leave the house and be safe.

“There was a huge flame in our neighbors’ backyards and the smoke continued to rise,” Christine Milewitz told the Napoli Daily News.

The Florida Forest Service said the fire spans 10 acres from 75 acres of Interstate Highway south of Immokaley Road. WFTX reported that the fire contained 98% on Thursday morning.
