Palm Coast, Fla. (WFLA) — A man from New York was accused of causing a disturbance at a Palm Coast liquor store on Wednesday after an employee refused to sell him more alcohol.
Deputies responded to Sharps discount liquor around 2pm, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Before arriving at the scene, the dispatcher told deputies that a man identified as Jeffrey Kimmel, 38, had a large knife in his waistband and was sitting at the top of a counter inside a liquor store, spitting and throwing glass bottles all over the floor.
Store employees told lawmakers how Kimmel entered the store and bought four liquors. When the clerk refused to sell him more, Kimmel jumped on the counter and began screaming at her. He then began kicking items from the counter while employees and other customers were locked up in the back room.
Lawmakers said Kimmel was acting irregularly before he took him out of the store. Upon getting out, Kimmel kicked, screamed, and began to spit on the lawmakers, spitting on his head.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kimmel, and he faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief of more than $1,000.
Lawmakers estimate Kimmel caused more than $20,000 in damages.
