Pearson, Fla. (WFLA) – The lieutenant’s quick thinking may have helped save a man’s life in Volsia County last Friday.
The aide was the first at the scene of the shooting that took place outside Pearson’s home at about 6:20pm.

The victim was sitting in a parked minivan when he was shot in the neck, but was fortunate enough to be wary and conscious when the aide arrived.
Using only small first aid kits, through the apparent language barrier, the aides were able to apply pressure to the wound until the EMS unit arrived. He can be heard in body camera video to the victim “mueva, no mueva” in English to mean “not moving.”

Upon arrival of additional units, the man was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition, but is expected to recover in full.
According to a preliminary investigation, the suspect was a colleague of the victim, who approached the car, shot him and then ran away. The incident occurred Friday afternoon and as of Saturday morning police were still searching for the suspect.
