Verizon is revamping the popular “Can you hear me now?” Do so using advertising campaigns and Brevard residents.

Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin lives on satellite beaches and is appearing in a new Verizon commercial. It recently premiered online and was first seen by television audiences during the 67th Grammy Awards broadcast last Sunday.

The ad begins with a shot of Aldrin, who recently turned 95 and is wearing Aviator sunglasses.

“56 years ago, we conquered the moon. Now Verizon is conquering the satellites and dead zones, and I’m helping them do it,” says Aldrin, branded update. Narration before uttering the Catch phrase. “Can you text me now?”

He sends phrases in various remote locations: “Can you text me now?” There’s always a response “Yes.”

Eventually, the man orbiting in space receives the text and replies, “That’s my line.” It turns out to be actor Paul Marcarelli, who is the original Verizon “Test Man.” He first appeared on Verizon Commercials over a decade ago.

Aldrin finishes the latest commercial, “It’s one huge leap for connections.” This line nods to the famous quote made when his fellow Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong was on the moon. “It’s one huge leap of humanity.”

How Buzz Aldrin became part of the new Verizon commercial

Paul Marcarelli plays Buzz Aldrin and Verizon on the left "Testman," Filming a new Verizon commercial about the provider's growing satellite connections.

Leslie Berland, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Verizon, described Aldrin using words such as legends and icons, saying he is the “dream man” part of the commercial .

“What he’s done over time and what he’s doing with us in this ad, I thought we were so much fun and really bold,” Burland said. .

Marcarelli said USA Today, who works with Aldrin, was “awesome thing and I’ve really become a star track.”

USA Today reporter Mike Snider contributed to this report.
